LETTER FROM THE HCFI PRESIDENT

Romans chapter three begins with an explanation about the privileged position of the Jewish people. God revealed Himself to them, He cut covenant with them, He gave them a Promised Land, He protected and provided them.
The danger was that they could think they were chosen because they were better than others. Not at all, the Holy Spirit inspired author continues. Jews and Gentiles are all sinners. No exception. Even the most devoted person still falls short of perfect compliance to the moral laws of God. Both Jews and Gentiles deserve the just punishment of eternal death.
None of us could do anything to deliver any of us from the righteous wrath of the Divine Judge. Only a sinlessly perfect Volunteer could take our place. In the whole history of mankind, only One Person qualified for this almost impossible task: Jesus Christ Himself.
Love motivated Him: Agape love, the most powerful motivator in the universe. The perfectly pure Son of God chose to take upon Himself the stinking filth of all the sin of all human beings of all time upon Himself. The utterly loved Son who enjoyed blissfully harmonious relationship with His Father, chose to undergo the awesome wrath of due justice. How He suffered!
Master, we walk the Via Dolorosa with You, we kneel at the foot of the Cross, so to speak. Your suffering breaks our hearts, softening us, stirring afresh the desire to love You in return. How worthy You are! How precious! You are our treasure! No one has ever loved us to the extent You love us. No one else ever can. Thank You!
We continue with You as they carry Your dead body to the grave. We remain in darkness until the dawn of Your resurrection bursts forth – those who have dwelt in darkness now see a great light! Hallelujah!
